America-Mura — Youth Fashion & Street Culture

America-Mura (アメリカ村, 'America Village') is Osaka's youth fashion and subculture district, centered around Triangle Park (三角公園) in Namba. The neighborhood emerged in the 1970s when shops began importing American casual wear, creating Japan's first 'American style' shopping district. Today it's a nexus for streetwear, vintage clothing, record shops, indie boutiques, and underground fashion.

The district's aesthetic is deliberately anti-establishment — graffiti-covered walls, skateboarders in Triangle Park, hip-hop fashion shops, and alternative cafes. The contrast with nearby Shinsaibashi's upscale shopping creates a generational and cultural divide visible within 5 minutes' walk.
