Chubu Centrair International Airport (中部国際空港) sits entirely on a man-made island 3.5km offshore in Ise Bay, accessible via a bridge from Tokoname. Beyond its function as Nagoya's international gateway, Centrair operates as a destination — the terminal features a rooftop observation deck with unobstructed sunset views over the ocean, an onsen bathhouse with open-air baths overlooking arriving aircraft, a traditional Japanese crafts shopping street (招き猫通り, Manekineko Dori) selling local ceramics and products, and multiple observation decks for aviation enthusiasts.

The airport's design philosophy emphasizes comfort during layovers — the Sky Deck (free access, open 7:00–22:00) provides 300 meters of oceanfront walkway with seating, where visitors watch planes land over the water while feeling sea breezes.
