Cup Noodles Museum — Interactive Instant Ramen History
The Cup Noodles Museum (カップヌードルミュージアム) chronicles the invention of instant ramen by Nissin founder Momofuku Ando, who in 1958 created the world's first instant noodles (Chikin Ramen) and in 1971 revolutionized food culture again with Cup Noodles. The museum combines history exhibits with hands-on activities — visitors can design their own Cup Noodles packaging and select from 12 soup bases and 28 ingredient combinations to create custom ramen, watch the automated production process, and explore a tunnel displaying 800+ instant noodle varieties from around the world.
The interactive approach makes food history engaging for all ages. The My Cup Noodles Factory (¥500) allows visitors to draw original designs on blank cups, select ingredients, and watch staff seal the package with an expiration date. The result is a functioning cup of instant ramen customized exactly to personal taste. The museum's architecture is equally distinctive — a bright, playful space designed by Nikken Sekkei featuring noodle-themed installations and a giant recreation of Ando's tool shed where he invented the first ramen.
