Fukue Island Beaches — Crystal Water of the East China Sea

Fukue Island, the largest of the Goto Islands, has 20+ named beaches with water clarity and sand quality that rival Okinawa but remain virtually unknown to foreign tourists. The western beaches — Takahama, Yorihama, and Miiraku — face the open East China Sea and receive consistent swells, creating excellent bodysurfing conditions. The eastern beaches are protected and calm, suitable for snorkeling.

The water temperature reaches 24°C in August; swimming season runs July–September. The beaches are undeveloped — no lifeguards, no facilities beyond parking lots and basic toilets — which preserves their empty, wild character even at peak season.
