Iga-Ueno Ninja Museum — Real Ninjutsu Techniques & Trick Houses

Iga (伊賀) was one of two historical ninja strongholds in Japan (alongside Koka in Shiga), and Iga-Ueno Ninja Museum (伊賀流忍者博物館) preserves authentic ninja heritage through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and a preserved ninja house (忍者屋敷) filled with hidden doors, trap floors, and secret compartments. The museum is operated by descendants of Iga ninja clans and focuses on historical accuracy rather than Hollywood mythology.

The ninja house tour (guided by kimono-clad demonstrators) reveals concealed weapons caches, rotating walls for quick escapes, and hidden staircases under floorboards. The museum's 'Ninja Experience Hall' showcases 400+ historical ninja tools: shuriken (throwing stars), kusarigama (chain-sickle weapons), climbing claws, disguised weapons, and smoke bombs. Live ninja shows (30 minutes, included in admission) demonstrate acrobatic combat techniques, sword fighting, and shuriken throwing by professional practitioners.
