The Kyoto International Manga Museum (京都国際マンガミュージアム) occupies a renovated elementary school building and houses 300,000 manga volumes including rare editions and international comics. The museum's 'Wall of Manga' (manga no kabe) displays 50,000 volumes on 200-meter-long shelves that visitors can freely read. The open reading policy encourages spending hours on the lawn reading manga — a public library approach rare in museums.

Exhibitions rotate, showcasing manga history, international manga, specific artists, and original artwork. The museum also offers manga-drawing workshops and manga artist demonstrations.
