Mifuneyama Autumn Maple Forest Walk
The maple forest on the slopes below Mifuneyama's granite cliff face contains 4,000 Japanese maple trees (momiji) that turn simultaneously in mid-November — the critical mass creating an effect where the entire cliff appears draped in a tapestry of orange, gold, and crimson. The walk through the maple section of Mifuneyama Rakuen garden takes 45 minutes and passes through 8 distinct maple varieties, from the lacy-leaved yama-momiji to the broad-palmed oo-momiji, producing a gradient of color within a single view.
