Nakanoshima — Art Museum & Rose Garden Island
Nakanoshima (中之島, 'island in the middle') is a 3km sandbar island between two rivers (Dojima and Tosabori) forming Osaka's cultural and administrative center. The island houses Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka Science Museum, Central Public Hall (1918 neo-Renaissance architecture), Osaka prefectural library, and rose gardens.
The riverfront promenades and European-style architecture create romantic walking routes distinct from Osaka's dense urban districts. The island represents Osaka's Meiji-era modernization when Western architectural styles were adopted for government buildings.
