Odori Park — Sapporo's Central Green Axis
Odori Park (大通公園) is a 1.5-kilometer-long boulevard running east-west through central Sapporo, dividing the city into north and south sections. The park is lined with flower gardens, fountains, and sculptures, transforming with each season — lilac blossoms in spring, beer gardens in summer, autumn foliage in October, and the world-famous Sapporo Snow Festival (雪まつり) in February with massive ice sculptures.
The park serves as Sapporo's gathering place for festivals, markets, and events year-round. At the eastern end stands the iconic Sapporo TV Tower (147m), offering panoramic city views. Locals use Odori Park as a reference point for navigation — addresses are often given as 'north/south of Odori, east/west blocks.'
