Ogi City Hirado-bashi — Hidden Cherry Blossom Town
Ogi is a small castle town on the southern slopes of Mt. Tenzan, known primarily within Saga Prefecture for its cherry blossom season — the river corridor through the old castle town is lined with 3,000 trees that bloom in late March and early April, creating tunnels of pink over the streams that run through the former samurai district. Unlike the famous cherry spots of Fukuoka or Nagasaki, Ogi attracts almost no foreign visitors and only moderate domestic crowds.
