Shiraito Falls — 150-Meter-Wide Spring-Fed Curtain Cascade

Shiraito Falls (白糸の滝, 'White Thread Falls') is a 20-meter-high, 150-meter-wide curtain waterfall where spring water emerges from volcanic rock layers and cascades in thousands of thin streams creating a 'white thread' effect. The falls are fed by Mt. Fuji's snowmelt that filters through volcanic rock for decades before emerging here — the water is crystal-clear and maintains constant 12°C temperature year-round.

The falls are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage component of Mt. Fuji's cultural landscape, representing the mountain's sacred water sources that have sustained agricultural communities for centuries. The viewing plaza allows close approach to the falls, where mist creates rainbow effects in sunlight and the sound of water drowns out all other noise. The falls are most dramatic after snowmelt (April–June) when volume is highest.
