Tokushima Central Wholesale Market — Morning Tuna Auctions
Tokushima Central Wholesale Market (徳島市中央卸売市場) is a functioning seafood and produce market where Tokushima's restaurants and shops source ingredients daily. The market is best known for its tuna auctions (マグロのせり), held early mornings when fresh-caught tuna are lined up on the floor for buyers to inspect before rapid-fire bidding. Visitors can observe from designated viewing areas, watching auctioneers and buyers communicate via hand signals and shouted bids.
Unlike Tokyo's Toyosu Market (which requires advance lottery reservations), Tokushima's market allows walk-in observation for free.
