Koiwai Farm — Dairy Pastures & Lavender Fields

Koiwai Farm is Japan's largest privately-owned pasture farm, covering 3,000 hectares of rolling hills used for dairy cattle, sheep grazing, and crop cultivation. Founded in 1891, the farm produces milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy products sold throughout Japan. The farm is open to visitors, offering pastoral landscapes of green pastures, sheep herds, old silo buildings, and distant mountain views. The farm's tree-lined One Hundred Year Forest Road is a popular photography spot — a 1.2km straight road flanked by mature trees planted in 1904. Lavender fields bloom purple in July. The farm operates restaurants serving dairy products, ice cream shops, and horseback riding activities. The landscape resembles European pastoral scenes more than typical Japanese farmland, creating a unique atmosphere.
